Writing is an important part in our daily lives . It is, however requires practice everyday. in this article we will share some simple activities with which you can help your child begin to develop her writing skills at an early age.
1. Read every day:
Reading and writing support each other. The more your child does of each, the better she will be at both. Reading also exposes kids to different ways of using words and a variety of sentence structures that they can use in their own writing. As you read and write more , you will build an important foundation that will help your child to become better reader, writer and learner.

2. Learn a new word daily:
Tell the child to learn a new word daily from the dictionary or thesaurus or from any other source like newspaper, storybooks, etc. It will help in vocabulary building.
For example, Synonyms of 1) Big are- huge, giant, large, enormous,
2) Cold: cool, chilly, bitter, freezing, raw, etc. You can encourage child to search of different words through dictionary or by thesaurus website .
3. Practice, practice & practice:
Practice makes everyone perfect. Writing requires a lot of practice. Make sure you provide the child enough opportunities to practice so that she/ he has the opportunity to improve. Make sure your child doesn’t get discouraged too easily. It’s not easy!
4. Storytelling
Read or tell stories at night. Talk with your child as much as possible about her ideas and impressions, and encourage her to describe people and events to you. Tell the child to share the story of the routine, school, and any other random things with you. Listen carefully without any interruptions. Encourage his/ her efforts.
5. Fun learning
Use games of words and spellings to build interest and improve their vocabulary in un ways . Games like crossword puzzles, word games, Pictionary , flashcards designed especially for children.
After following these steps your child will be able to write creatively. For example, Normal sentence– Queen Victoria goes to the court and asks him to tell which flowers are real one.
Creative writing- Queen Victoria went to London’s court and said, “O King, tell me which garland is made up of real flowers?”
Things to keep in mind:
- Appreciate your child’s efforts.
- Help your child where ever required
- Give time.
- Read with the child.
Writing tip: Stay positive!
Children who are worried about spelling every word correctly will often stick to a small group of words they can spell, or may avoid writing altogether.
